In Obubra, report reaching Watchdog reveals that the younger supporters of Senator John Owan Enoh outsmarted his older supporters in the Congresses, thereby winning the day. The Senior faction is made up of some senior politicians in the APC fold in Obubra, while the younger divide is made up of predominantly youths and young aspiring politicians.
Report has it that before the start of the Congress, the older divide ran away with the materials to an unknown destination while the younger team went ahead to conduct the Congresses with the delegates on ground. It is believed that the older politicians are acting otherwise because they see former Director General of Cross River State Recreational Agency, Daniel Obo, as a threat in the APC.
“They feel he is too small to lead the team because he is the leader of the Owan Enoh’s divide in APC. Since his move to APC, Dan, has moved round each of the eleven council wards canvassing support for the APC, been visible in all events in Obubra as well as all other local government areas in the central as regards the APC and in fact, he organised the biggest APC rally besides the governorship rally in the state. He has worked hard for the party and hard work pays” they said.
It was reported that the older faction went ahead to blackmail him before the senator, saying that Dan, is working for the Minister of Niger Delta affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, because the former chapter chairman of APC, Mr. Smart, was chosen by Dan to be returned during the Congress as chapter chairman and being that the chapter Chairman is in the minister’s divide of the APC, it means he is working in their favour. Their firm stand against Smart was because they knew his emergence will work against their choice for federal house come 2019 but the younger supporters of Senator Owan Enoh were behind him and at the end won the senior supporters.
Information reaching us from a reliable source also has it that the older team went ahead to collect the sum of one million Naira from Owan Enoh in respect of the primaries and went away with it without sharing a dime with other party faithfuls which has caused the youngsters to lose more confidence in them and are threatening to change the allegiance. Owan Enoh has over the years established himself as a political leader in Obubra and there are currently fears within his camp that if the youngsters are allowed to swap allegiance then he might be losing grip of Obubra which is one of his strongholds.
Will Owan allow the minister take the young grassroot from him including the young mobilizer who resigned his juicy state appointment as DG Cross River Recreational Agency and followed him from PDP to APC a week after he decamped?
